German Architects and Engineers again at MIPIM 2015

From 10 to 13 March 2015 the world will meet again in Cannes/France for the MIPIM, the leading international property market. For the 8th time the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy and the Architecture Export Network (NAX) will jointly present the German Pavilion, where 22 German Architects and Engineers offices show their work and competencies. The German Pavilion will be opened by the German Consul General Rolf R. Herden and BAK Vice-President Prof. Ralf Niebergall on 10 March 2015. On each following day a “German hour” will be organised, where members of the German Pavilion and their guests will discuss key topics like e.g. Green Building, Competence in innovation, Urban Planning and Social Engineering. You are warmly invited to join us! For any questions please do not hesitate to contact the NAX team via info(at)nax.bak(dot)de. 

Alvar Aalto Medal awarded to the Spanish architect duo Fuensanta Nieto and Enrique Sobejano

The Alvar Aalto Medal has been awarded to the Spanish architect duo Fuensanta Nieto and Enrique Sobejano. First awarded in 1967, the medal was recently presented for the twelfth time. The winners were announced at a seminar marking Architecture Day at Helsinki City Hall on 3 February, 2014. The architectural philosophy of Nieto and Sobejano is strongly rooted in the culture and history of their homeland. Creative collaborators since the early 1980s, Nieto and Sobejano are renowned for the great variety of their portfolio, although their best-known works are galleries and museums. The medal is conferred by the Museum of Finnish Architecture, the Finnish Association of Architects SAFA, the Architectural Society, the Alvar Aalto Foundation and the City of Helsinki.

Luxembourg Contemporary Architecture Guide - 2nd Edition

The Order of Architects and Engineers of Luxembourg (OAI) has published the Second Edition of the Luxembourg Contemporary Architecture Guide. The guide includes 14 itineraries and presents 294 exemplar architectural and engineering projects. More information available on OAI Website.  Read the brochure (only in French).

New CEO of Danish Architectural Firms, DANSKE ARK

As the new CEO of DANSKE ARK, the former Foreign Minister and Conservative Party chairman, Lene Espersen, will  ensure the industry far greater visibility and political clout. "We are happy and proud that we as an industry organisation can attract one of Denmark's most powerful politicians," says President of DANSKE ARK, Kolja Nielsen. "Danish architects are among the best in the world. But as an industry, we need to be much better at explaining our value to politicians and builders. Therefore, we were on the look out for a CEO who had experience in working with business, improving export and, not least, one who could be an ambassador for all of the members". Lene Espersen started in her new job on 1 December 2014 and will be responsible for implementing the organisations new business strategy "We Build Better Lives".

 CSCAE Exhibition: On a Journey: Spanish Architecture in the Arab World  

Casa Arabe and the Consejo Superior de Colegios de Arquitectos de España (CSCAE) have joined to give visibility to the architecture Spanish architects have created in Arab countries, so different, yet so close. The exhibition shows a wide range and typology of projects: town‐planning and spatial planning, tourist, residential, commercial equipment and offices. Since it was inaugurated in June 2013, the exhibition has been seen in different Arab countries. In 2014 it has been on display in Lebanon, Morocco, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan. For more information visit the Website.
