ACE - A Growing European Network of Expertise

14.12.2023

Since its foundation in Treviso, Italy, the Architects Council of Europe has represented architects of Europe for more than three decades.

Today, through its 43 Member Organisations, the Architects Council of Europe represents more than 620,000 architects from 30 countries in Europe.

ACE Members are both professional associations and competent authorities that act to promote the quality of architecture in Europe to promote the quality of architecture and the living environment and to safeguard the public interest.

In April and November 2023, the ACE General Assembly unanimously adopted in Brussels the application of the Professional Chamber of Architects of Montenegro, the Chamber of Certified Architects and Certified Engineers of North Macedonia, the Association of Architects of Kosovo and the Union of Architects of the Republic of Moldova as Observer members.

ACE now counts 6 Observer members with the Union of Architects of Serbia and the National Union of Architects of Ukraine.

For ACE, the status of Observer Member represents an investment in the future as a strategy for legislative alignment prior to EU accession, to stimulate and support dialogue on certain key subjects, for example on EU directives that provide for professional mobility, mutual recognition and access to procurement.
The contribution of Observer Members is valuable in the ACE work groups to broaden the knowledge of the network and to share experiences with good practices that deserve to be shared at a European level.
